Project Hannah Celebrates Nine Years of sharing God’s love with the needy women of Angola

This year, Project Hannah celebrated its ninth anniversary in the war-torn African country of Angola on June 8th. We praise God for how He has touched the hearts of the prayer team members in Angola (Luanda, Lubamgo, Huambo, Namibe, Bie and Benguela) to pray for women and families of Angola. Volunteers, men and woman, (including pastors, church leaders and leaders of evangelical organizations in Angola) find time everyday to pray for the need of women around the world [using Project Hannah’s monthly prayer calendar]. They also help women, including women and children in prisons in Luanda and Lubango.

The results have been encouraging and rewarding. Many women have found new life and hope in Jesus Christ. Others have grown spiritually. Many have drawn near to the Lord in prayer, asking Him to transform their husbands, children and marriages. Opportunities have been given for women to receive training and discipleship and to participate in conferences.

In preparation for Project Hannah Angola’s 2010 ninth anniversary celebration, ladies in the prayer movement fasted and prayed from June 1st through 12th, seeking communion with God and to be consecrated to Him so that through their ministry they will see the salvation of Angolan women and their families.

As we enter the 10th year of ministry in Angola, Project Hannah prayer movement members there number 4,276 participating in 200 prayer groups (with participants from 17 denominations). Six hundred seventy printed prayer calendars are distributed for use by these 200 prayer groups and their 4,276 members. And, we look forward to the summer launching of Women of Hope in Umbundu. Umbundu is spoken by about 4 million of the 16 million plus people in Angola. Though Portuguese is the official language of Angola, it is spoken by only about 60,000 people, so a Women of Hope production in Umbundu will greatly increase the number of women who can hear about God’s love for them in their own language.  Please pray for the Umbundu team and that God will prepare listeners to draw closer to Him as they learn about His love from the new program.

Testimony from an Angolan Project Hannah prayer group member:

My husband would not let me participate in prayer meetings and forbade me to go to church, a situation that got worse over time. At first, he prayed with me, like a guard.  Unfortunately, he became very jealous and caused a lot of confusion at home. He called me bad names and drove me from our home with our children. I went to my sister's house for 2 months, but I did not stop praying. Praise the Lord, because he came to my sister's house and apologized and promised never to change or to prohibit me from going to prayer meetings and church. Please sisters continue to pray for his conversion and salvation.

Testimony of a listener to the Angolan (Portuguese) Women of Hope program:

I have listened to your program. It has helped me to grow spiritually.  There were many things that I neglected in my behavior as a Christian.  I approached and spent time with worldly men.  I have now been saved and I know that God is going to give me a husband after His own heart and I am waiting on God.
