The Women of Hope (WoH)
broadcast does not lecture, but shares practical advice
and personal experiences, letting listeners know they
are understood and cared for. The conversational friend-to-friend
style of the program keeps it simple, attractive, friendly
and challenging.

Embracing
the Vision for Women's Outreach
Over the past seven years, God has worked mightily through Project
Hannah (PH) to share His transforming love with countless numbers
of precious, but previously unengaged souls. Now, offering hope
to suffering women through PH is even more vital to fulfilling
the ministry priorities God has given parent Mission Trans World
Radio.
The ravages of war, desperation and disease impact a disproportionate
number of women. Nearly half of all HIV-infected adults are
women. Women are the majority in the world’s oral societies.
Today’s children and youth can be dramatically impacted
for Christ when their caregivers, primarily women, follow Him.
And where women are the majority attending church, a high number
of women must be trained to lead them so that “the older
may teach the younger” (Titus 2:3-5).
Ministering to the Sick with God’s Word
While visiting inmates in a Paraguayan prison, one TWR volunteer,
a nurse, took a particular interest in a prisoner with severe
spinal problems. The inmate had isolated herself, but readily
opened up to the nurse even about spiritual matters. The volunteer
ensured that the woman received treatment, and the prisoner
is now involved in Bible studies and praise and worship.
“There are no words to express how much I appreciate those
who didn’t hesitate to help me,” the woman said.
“The ladies have not abandoned me a single week, and fill
me with strength and hope.” Over the past few years in
Indonesia, PH staff members have been conducting health seminars
as an outflow of Women of Hope’s (WoH) radio
format. The seminars have been a means of meeting with listeners
and helping their needs.
Equipping Women’s Ministry Leaders
Mrs. P in India helps her evangelist husband in his ministry.
After she heard the Hindi Women of Hope broadcast (begun
in January 2005), she felt led to share God’s Word with
other women in their church. She teaches them what she learns
from the program and encourages them to listen also. And in
Myanmar, as well as benefiting personally from the broadcasts,
a seminary professor uses WoH to gain knowledge that she then
teaches to the women who come to the seminary. Sometimes they
listen to the programs together.
Reaching Women Who Cannot Read
Recent reports indicate that the Quichua WoH broadcasts, on
the air just since November, are vital to those tribal women
of Ecuador, as most of them communicate orally. And in Myanmar,
a pastor relates that the programs are helpful in teaching women
villagers about health issues, as many lack knowledge and cannot
attend school. In fact, the pastor adds, women often marry before
reaching puberty, and only three or four of the 10 or so children
they bear actually survive. In many instances, the mothers also
die.
Shaping the Next Generation for Christ
A Ukrainian man wrote to PH that his family always listens to
WoH and appreciates the information on the program about raising
children. “It is vital to us,” he said. A Filipino
girl had become pregnant at 16, but because she heard WoH and
corresponded with the PH team, she didn’t follow through
on plans to abort the baby. Today, she is raising a healthy
son and is thankful for the advice she receives from PH. And
from an Indonesian woman: “Insight and direction from
Women of Hope equips me to be the best wife and mother
I can.”
